Safe Sanctuary Certification

We have recently changed our provider for background checks. The following link below will take you to an online application. First time volunteers will need to fill out the complete application.  The background check is redone every three years.  If you are a current volunteer who needs to redo their background check, please fill out the form. You will not need to fill out education information, or reference information, as that is already on file and not needed again.  

To become Safe Sanctuary Certified at Batavia United Methodist Church you will need to do the following 2 steps

1. Complete the backbround check by going to the following link Background verification for Safe Sanctuary
   
2. Watch the online training videos described below along with the associated certification test. Or else attend a Safe Sanctuary training class.

You will either need to attend one of the scheduled Safe Sanctuary Training Sessions or conveniently do the training online here.

You must register to see the Online Training Videos and take the Safe Sanctuary Certification Test.

To register fill in the form at the left selecting the register button or go to the Online resources menu - first selection named Login

Note: When you have completed the Captcha game for registration please click on the register link to submit your registration as shown below.

You will see a message on your browser as follows after you have succefully registered.

• Your account has been created and an activation link has been sent to the email address you entered. Note that you must activate the account by clicking on the activation link when you get the email before you can login.

You will receive an email with instrustions to active your account using the link provided.

When you have activated the account by clicking on the link - you will see a message as follows:

• Your Account has been successfully activated. You can now log in using the username and password you chose during the registration.

After your account has been activated, then login using the login button and go up to the BUMC Online Resources menu.

You can now see and access the Safe Sanctuary Videos and Safe Sanctuary Test.

You will ONLY see these selections if you are a registered user and logged in.

The first video is 6.5 mins and the other 2 are about 8 minutes.

The test has 10 multiple choice questions, 60 minute time limit and passing score is 70%.

On the test page there is a results link on the lower left that you can check the progress on your test.
